FAQ

  • Does it cost anything to join?

No, it doesn’t cost anything to join. We do cater our own meetings, though, and we’ll more or less take turns to get the snacks.

Some of our projects have associated costs, but these are rare and minimal - we usually try to ensure our projects are externally funded.

  • Do I have to be from the Northern Beaches to join?

Not at all. We meet in a variety of locations around the Northern Beaches area, so if you’re up for the commute, we’d be thrilled to have you! We can also talk about attending meetings remotely, but we’d recommend attending in person for the best experience.

  • Do I need to be an experienced writer to take part?

Absolutely not. In fact, you don’t even need to be a writer at all. If you’re passionate about stories, and interested in being a writer, then you’re sure to be welcome. The same goes if you’re already a gun at the keyboard.

  • What's the process for joining?

Fill in the contact form, providing as much information as you can, and we’ll reach out to you within one business day. We like to have a quick chat with prospective members to see if we’re all the right fit, but once that’s done, it’s just a matter of showing up to the next meeting.

  • What do your services cost?

Our members are freelance professionals with their own rate structures, but we all charge at or around the standard market rate. Because you’re dealing with a small community collective, your best bet is to have a chat with us, as we’ll be able to tailor something for the size and nature of the job.

  • Are there membership fees?

There is a small annual membership fee, but we won’t ask for this until you’ve been to a few meetings and know for sure that WTWG’s the group for you. Fees help us to cover website hosting and admin, and anything left after that we chuck into our Christmas party.
